I had signed up for another fairy ribbon swap sometime ago so I had one more doll to finish. I am pleased that she turned out to be quite a cutie.
The theme for this swap was Autumn. So I incorporated some of the colors and icons commonly associated with the Fall season. On her hat I used a foam pumpkin and metal brads in the shape of leaves. To represent Halloween on the doll I made the skirt out of a 3" ribbon which has images of spiders and webs. The images on the ribbon are flocked which adds a cool dimension to the skirt.
My favorite part of this fairy doll however are the wings. I must admit however that it was a bit of an accident. The wings are made out of plain cardboard. I tried to do a ink resist technique but the cardboard absorbed all of the ink. So I painted the wings white and embossed the design on the wings with clear embossing powder. I then tried using the ink pads once again but the color would not take. In a desperate attempt to give the wings some dimension I used liquid glass to outline the design and adhered clear micro beads to it. I love the end result. To me the wings look like they are made out of tapestry.
Too bad I can't keep her. :-) TFL!
