Where Women Create

Just purchased one of my favorite magazines,
"Where Women Create". The magazine showcases the creative studios of various crafters. Although most of the rooms featured are a little over the top for your average scrapbooker I enjoy nonetheless looking at and drooling over these creative spaces. I luv learning how different crafters approach their organizational problems. Inevitably I find at least one storage solution that I can incorporate into my own room.

The magazine is a little pricey, retailing at $14.99, but it's a wonderful source of inspiration. Unfortunately I have not been able to find this magazine at either Michaels or Joann's. So if you don't subscribe to this magazine and want to take a sneak peak at the Autumn 2009 publication click here. Enjoy!

Retrieving deleted photos

On Saturday the family spent the day at the beach. I took 138 photos . . . experimenting with a few more manual settings on my camera. When I got home I immediately wanted to download the photos off the SD card. Instead, my trigger happy fingers accidentally deleted ALL 138 photos from my SD card. I know . . . the HORROR!

The pictures were deleted from the SD card directly so they could not be found in my desktop trash bin. I tried looking in my temp folder but to no avail. My husband, God bless him, spent 3 hours in the sweltering heat retrieving the deleted files. Thank God he was able to recover the photos.

Given my positive experience I wanted to share the link with you to Z-A Recovery which is the software that saved my trigger happy behind. LOL. This is an unsolicited testimonial to the fact that the software works!!!! http://www.z-a-recovery.com/digital-image-recovery.htm

Making Memories Acrylic Stamp Storage Folder

A few weeks ago I purchased a set of acrylic stamps from Making Memories that came with a storage folder. How freaking cool is that? A manufacturer who provided a storage solution with the acrylic stamps . . . in the same package . . . at no additional cost! Of course I understand the marketing hook because since then I've purchased a pack of refills (5 per package) and plan to buy a few more. The storage folders also hold acrylic/clear stamps sets from other manufacturers. My new Inkadinkado clear stamp sets fit in these storage folders just nicely.

I could see a small problem with this storage solution. Given my addiction with stamps, I will need several 5x7 binders in order to hold the stamp sets. Since I have limited shelf space in my SB room I may opt to put them in a decorative box instead. I assume the box may have greater storage capacity while taking up limited real estate on the shelf. We'll see!

Page Maps

I just received a copy of Scrapbook Page Maps by Becky Fleck. I am loving this book. I've already started working on a LO using one of her sketches in the book. Stay tune.

Product Review: Protect-a-page

I consider myself a chunky scrapbooker. By this I mean that I like to use thick, chunky embellishment in my LOs. As you may already know, using such embellishments causes your pages to warp. So I've been searching for a solution to this problem. I ran across this product by Dolphin Enterprises and had high hopes when I purchased it. However, once I got it home I was immediately disappointed. The page protector is made out of a lightweight polyethylene that seemed a little too flimsy for the job. Trying to keep an open mind I decided to test out the product anyways in one of my SB albums. To my surprise a standard 12x12 LO DOES NOT fit inside this page protector despite the claims on the package by the manufacturer. AGH! Back to square one!
